BYITC

I was delighted to be invited as a judge at this year’s BYITC (British Youth International College) Inspire Awards, specifically for the Environment category. The event took place at the prestigious Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh, with esteemed MSPs and influential figures in attendance.

These annual awards hold great significance as they not only recognise the hard work and dedication of young individuals but also embody the spirit of inclusion. It was great to witness the support of Scottish Labour Party leader Anas Sarwar, who sponsored the event and arranged for it to be held in the Scottish Parliament.

For the children in attendance, this was an extraordinary opportunity. The Scottish Parliament building, with its historical significance, provided a remarkable experience for them at such a young age. Meeting MSPs and professionals from various fields added a touch of inspiration that they will remember for a long time.

What struck me the most was the diverse representation of backgrounds and cultures among the attendees. This event truly embraced inclusion and celebrated the achievements of children in not only the environment category, but also in categories such as science, arts and academia. It was a powerful reminder of how talented and dedicated many young people are.

Beyond the accolades, this event served a deeper purpose. It offered a platform for young individuals to interact with people from diverse walks of life. It was a privilege for these young people to be present at such a prestigious venue, surrounded by influential individuals who can inspire them to reach their full potential.

The significance of these awards cannot be overstated. They empower our youth, instilling curiosity and enthusiasm as they strive to achieve their goals. Education plays a vital role in shaping their future, and the BYITC Inspire Awards shed light on the importance of equipping them with a diverse skill set that will help them pave their way to success in the future.

Moreover, these awards embody the values of inclusion and diversity that are crucial in today’s society. By recognizing and honoring young individuals from various backgrounds, the BYITC Inspire Awards send a powerful message that every young person deserves an equal chance to shine and contribute to a better future.

As I reflect on the event, I am filled with optimism for the young minds of the future. The BYITC Inspire Awards help serve as a powerful reminder that children have the potential to make a difference and shape a brighter future for themselves and the world around them.
